Seeking Danger

I've just read a blog post by a sister missionary that used to serve in Guelph. She suffered a miscarriage earlier in the year and it resulted in her developing a gestational tumor in her uterus. She has already been blessed with one child but this tumor may be the end to her childbearing. Her story is not the first I've heard concerning how dangerous pregnancy can be. Pregnancy and giving birth has taken the lives of many mothers, caused permanent illnesses and disabilities.
It feels strange to pray daily for Heavenly Father to place me in the possibly dangerous situation, but at the same time I know the risks involved would be worth it.

I still believe that we will have children one day and I strongly believe that our family will be a mixture of children born by us and those born by other mothers. Even before we knew we would have fertility problems we had decided we would adopt. We really would like to adopt from Africa, especially Congo. I have many little cousins and second cousins that are orphaned, malnourished and have no chance being educated. We have found some organizations that assist people in doing relative adoptions. Adoption can also be dangerous, there is a financial risk as well as a huge emotional war.

Mothers sacrifice so much, heart, body and soul. What would we do if our mothers didn't risk their lives to bring us into this world? Or find the strength and love in their hearts to mother an unwanted or orphaned child? Whether you already mother or are preparing to mother the following quote probably fits your life

I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much --- Mother Teresa

Right now I mother this thing:

She desperately needs it and has been begging for my attention for the last half hour. We are off to watch pet heroes together.
Good Day to All!

  1. It would be wonderful if you could help some of your own relatives to have a better life! You will be great parents. I "can't remember" which kids in our large family were born into and which were gifts from others. Our thoughts and prayers are with you that you will soon be blessed with a family.

I can't believe Cody lets you put dresses on FINA. She does look cute though.
